Through this project, your students will dive into history, research a Black figure in cosmetology, and bring their contributions to life with a creative, hands-on project. Not only will they learn about history, but they’ll also get to practice research, presentation, and creative skills—all while having fun! 💡✨
Lesson Procedures: Step by Step
Step 1: Research Phase
Choose Your Innovator: Each student selects a Black innovator in cosmetology.
Haircare pioneers
Beauty product creators
Influential figures in makeup, skincare, or beauty education
Historical or contemporary icons
Note: First come, first serve—no duplicates! ✅
Research: Gather information on your chosen individual.

Design Tips:
Use images of the person and their work. 📸
Keep text concise—bullet points are best.
Choose professional fonts and colors. 🎨
Make it visually appealing, but easy to read!
Step 3: Creative Component – Recreate Their Contribution
Students will physically or conceptually recreate the innovator’s invention. Examples include:
Recreating a beauty product (DIY version of a hair or skincare product). 🧴
Building a mock-up of a tool they designed. 🛠
Conceptual recreation if the physical object isn’t possible.
Take a picture and include it on your Google Slides presentation! 📷
