My name is Kierra Smith. I received my cosmetology license in 2011 and my cosmetology instructor license in 2014. For me, cosmetology is about empowerment! Through the services we provide we are able to literally change lives! We contribute to peoples confidence, self love, and self care on a daily basis! I love my industry!
Shawnda Rodgers received her cosmetology license in the year 2000 and her cosmetology instructor license in 2011.
Shea Scott has been in the industry her whole life and considers herself a "cosmetology baby", however, she became a licensed lash artist in 2017. She is also a lash educator and beauty school owner. In her words, "Cosmetology means a beautiful sacrifice with glowing results. It means educating and growth. I enjoy serving my clients with flawless lashes as well as educating my students and fellow beauty peers within the lash industry. Cosmetology is diverse. It's a culture. It's the ultimate sacrifice for me."
Briseida Gomez received her manicurist license in 2017. In her words, "It's about empowering women, making women feel great and confident. Its about sisterhood. Women supporting women, rooting for one another, and bringing out the very best in my clients with something as simple as nail color. Manicure sessions are so much more than just doing nails. It's therapeutic for both of us."
Anessa Nelson received her cosmetology license in 1993, barber license in 1995, and her cosmetology instructor license in 1998.
Candice Smith became a licensed master cosmetologist in 2006 and a cosmetology instructor in 2011. In her words, "As a beauty professional, Cosmetology means strength, endurance, dedication, and determination to say the least. My Cosmetology career has carried me and my family over the years. I decided to become an Educator because I felt a need to reach and teach future beauty professionals. I truly believe God called me to do work in this profession. Cosmetology is so much more than hair, skin, and nails. It's love, unity, community, fun, and joy! I have dedicated my career to this industry and I plan to continue my work within the industry."
Deborah Parker, from Franklin, VA, has been in the cosmetology industry for 43 years. She currently works as a CTE instructor at a high school. To her, cosmetology is more than a career—it's the ability to use her skill, hands, and tone to transform lives every single day.
