Milady Chapter 1: Cosmetology Careers Activity!

need a creative activity for your students to introduce different cosmetology careers!? check out this fun and engaging activity!

have your students to create a cosmetology career magazine! this will give them the opportunity to discover different careers in the industry they may not have known existed, and even research the details about the career opportunities they already knew about!

below i have included the student expectations slide that should be displayed on the board as they work! (make any adjustments that are necessary for your classroom)

Give your students the freedom to choose if they would like to create their magazine on paper or using technology! giving students freedom to choose how they will create a project allows them the opportunity to thrive in areas where they are strong! some students are very artistic and draw well, so they may choose to Design their magazine on paper. the end result of their magazine would meet your expectation better than forcing someone who can not draw to design their’s on paper instead of using technology, where they might thrive. basically, freedom with guidelines encourages your students best work and allows them the opportunity to think outside of side of the box and display more individuality and creativity!

below i have attached an example of student work!

once your student are done creating, and before the presentations you may have them to take out a sheet of paper, notecards, create a chart or table, etc for note taking. (i encourage you to let them choose their note taking mechanisms as well.) instruct them to include the title of each career being present as well as the description for the career. Having students to take notes during presentations is something i like to do to ensure students are paying attention and absorbing the Information that is being presented. it is also another way to simply ensure they have the information written down without simply having them copy boring notes directly from the text book all of the time.

another option would be to create some sort of handout that students are able to fill in as presentations take place.

try out this activity and tell me what you think! ❤️❤️
